The Advantages of Worm Gear Drives
High Single-Stage Reduction Ratio
In power transmission scenarios, a single-stage worm gear drive can achieve a reduction ratio ranging from 10 to 100, far higher than that of ordinary gear drives. It can deliver high-torque low-speed output within a limited space, featuring a more compact overall structure and smaller installation footprint.
Inherent Reverse Self-Locking
When the lead angle of the worm is smaller than the equivalent friction angle of the meshing surface, only the worm can drive the worm wheel, while the worm wheel cannot reversely drive the worm. Without an additional brake, it can prevent accidental falling of loads in hoisting and lifting equipment, greatly improving operational safety.
Smooth Operation with Low Noise
The meshing process is continuous line contact transmission, with minimal impact and vibration during operation. The regular operating noise can be controlled below 55dB, making it suitable for scenarios that require a quiet operating environment.
Strong Adaptability for High Loads
The large meshing contact area enables it to withstand large axial and radial loads, and operate stably under harsh working conditions with high humidity, dust, extreme high/low temperatures, adapting to complex production environments such as chemical and metallurgical industries.
Low Maintenance Cost
The high-quality configuration of 20CrMnTi carburized steel worm paired with tin bronze worm wheel offers excellent wear resistance and impact resistance. Some high-protection models can reach IP65 protection rating. After long-term use, only the worn parts need to be replaced separately instead of the whole unit, which reduces the full-lifecycle maintenance cost.
